I have searched the web and have only found 1 fatality caused by an Akita attack. The article link is below. A few things to notice are that the Akita was an adult when it was brought into the home, it seems to imply that the young girl had just met the Akita that day, & the Akita was on a runner (or chain). When my puppies go to new homes I try to impress to those owners that with an Akita you need to be very cautious, especially with strangers, adult or children. An Akita bite is very dangerous; we cannot take chances with human life.
